President's Report

The Women’s Club of San Bernardino has had a busy year in 2011-2012. Our meetings are held the second Wednesday of every month with some being a formal Tea and others being a celebratory Luncheon and always featuring a business meeting and a program with the exception of the two fashion shows.

We started our club year with our Summer Sale in June, followed by having the pleasure of hosting the District meeting in July. Our regular General meetings began with a Tea on September 14, 2011 with the Opening Tea featuring “Flea Market Fashions” following in October. The November meeting presented our new members at the New Member’s Luncheon. December 7th found us in the “Winter Wonderland” of our holiday fashion show luncheon. Then on December 14th we held our General meeting Tea. In January we enjoyed our yearly tribute to our Past Presidents with a special luncheon. The February, March and April meetings were each a lovely Tea with the “Busy Bee Spring Fashion Show” held on April 4th. The May meeting was our “Show Off Day” when our Home & Gardens/Crafts, Gourmet, ESO and Spiritual Values Sections report on their activities over the past year and the report awards are passed out as awarded to us at Convention. Then on the last Wednesday of May we install our new slate of officers at our Installation Luncheon.

Throughout the year on Saturdays we had “Supper Club” dinners serving menus which consisted of a BBQ and classic car display, a Hobo Dinner, St. Patrick’s Day Supper, a Bon Apetit Spaghetti Dinner and a Summer Supper. Each featured a build your own Ice Cream Sundae Bar.

The Women’s Club of San Bernardino sponsors many philanthropic projects: Easter Baskets for San Bernardino City Mission, Option House and Ronald McDonald House; food and clothing for San Bernardino City Mission; Guide Dogs of the Desert; Search Dogs; Habitat for Humanity; Humane Society; Make A Wish Foundation, March of Dimes; Red Cross; Veteran’s Affairs; Cell Phones for Soldiers, Eye glasses and cases, and others.

Our annual Flea Market is our largest undertaking for which we work every Tuesday all year to be ready for the two-day event held on the first Friday and Saturday of November. San Bernardino and surrounding communities look foward to our annual Flea Market and line up out the door to be admitted to our club which is crammed full of anything and everything of gently used items.

Besides our philanthropic committees we have educational, fun, and fund raising committees For members to attend, serve on or participate in. Our socials and day trips are always lots of fun with much camaraderie among members and friends. There is something to keep a member as busy as one would like. We welcome new members. Contact our Membership Chairman Barbara Harris, (909) 883-5362 if you are interested in joining our club.

Respectfully submitted,

MARY DUKE RAMSEY,

President Women’s Club of San Bernardino
