CLUBWOMAN ART CONTEST
Art Categories are:
     Watercolor: Portrait / Scenic / Still Life: novice or advanced.
     Oil or Other Medium: Scenic / Still Life: novice or advanced.
     China Painting: novice or advanced.
ART ENTRIES SHOULD BE CREATED IN THE PRIOR 2 YEARS.  NOVICE 3 OR LESS/ADVANCED 3 OR MORE YEARS.

CONCERNING ALL ART ENTRIES: A District may enter one in each category.
No entry larger than 24" X 30" and No entry with glass will be accepted. The Signed Entry Form must be attached to each entry.

The World in Pictures [Clubwomen and Students]
     Living Things – adults, animals, children, domestic birds, fish, flowers, insects, reptiles, wildlife
     Scenes – city, landscapes, rural, skies, sunrise, sunset, waterscapes, weather
     Still Life – abstract (any assemblage of objects either in an arranged or natural setting), buildings, monuments

ELIGIBILITY
• All photographers must be dues paying members of an active GFWC club
• Student entries must be sponsored by an active GFWC club, Grades 6-8, 9-12 & Graduating Senior
• Photos must be the original work of the member submitting the photo
• Contestant must be an amateur photographer – earnings from photography may not exceed $500 annually

RULES
• Each submission must be an 8 x 10 inch print. (Digital submissions alone will not be considered, but a high-resolution digital copy of the submission is encouraged)
• All photos must be mounted on a rigid 8 x 10 inch mount board; overall thickness may not exceed 3/8 inch [update 10/9/2014: exception: not required for student photos-but encouraged]
• NO mattes, frames or hangers
• Photos may be vertical/portrait or horizontal/landscape
• Photos may be color or black & white [judged separately in California)
• Photographs must be taken during the contest year [January – December]
• The same image may be submitted to multiple photo contests, but separate photos must be entered into each contest
• 1st Place winning photos will be forwarded to GFWC and will NOT be returned
• Each photo must have a label affixed to the back with the following information:
o Contest Name (i.e. The World in Pictures, Volunteers in Action)
o Category where applicable (i.e. Living Things-Blk&Wht)
o Photographer’s name, email address, mailing address & phone number
o Name of Club, District and State
o Title and brief caption giving location, date and other notes about the photo
o Arrow indicating top of photo
• Each photo must have a GFWC Creative Arts Waiver (in order to be considered at the national level—see Disclaimer)
• Each district may submit one photo in each category in both color and B&W

OTHER CONTESTS: 
GFWC Volunteers in Action [Clubwomen]

This contest provides members with the opportunity to demonstrate their volunteer activities through photography. (Remember this is volunteers in action – try not to use just posed photos)

A Year in Pictures [GFWC Calendar Contest-Clubwomen]
We do not have this contest at the State level. Each club may submit one photo directly to GFWC, along with accompanying signed GFWC Creative Arts Waiver, postmarked by May 15 to: GFWC A Year in Pictures Contest, 1734 N Street NW Washington, DC 20036-2990.
This contest features photographs depicting the twelve months of the year, providing members the opportunity to showcase their talents while supporting GFWC through the fundraising calendar.

AWARDS
1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons will be awarded at the California State Convention in May 2015. Clubwoman winning entries will be forwarded to GFWC for the contest at the national level. Winners at the national level receive cash prizes of $100 [1st], $75 [2nd] $50 [3rd].
Student awards: CALIFORNIA ONLY. Winning students receive a ribbon [1si,. 2nd, 3rd] and Target Gift Card Grades 9-12: $50/$35/$25, Grades 6-8: $30/$20/$10, Graduating Senior: $300 check

Student Art Contests

Student Categories are: Graduating Senior / Grades 9-12 /
Grades 6-8 / Grades 4-5 / Grades 2-3 / Grades K-1 /
and Special Ed Students: Grades K-8 and Grades 9-12.
The 1st, 2nd & 3rd place winners receive Target Card Awards.
The 1st place Graduating Senior receives the Scholarship.
STUDENT ENTRIES MUST HAVE BEEN CREATED IN THE PRIOR CALENDAR YEAR
